As a way of marking the occasion of the first State Services Senior Leaders
Development Conference, the State Services Commissioner, Mark Prebble, decided
this year to include a new category for attendance at conference. In addition
to chief executives and senior team members, thirty conference places were held
for people identified by Mark Prebble as having ‘high potential’ for leadership
positions in the State Services.
Mark Prebble invited chief executives to nominate people in their organisations
not yet operating at a senior level but assessed by virtue of their
performance, contribution and personal qualities as having significant
leadership potential and the ability to progress further into senior management
roles.
This invitation resulted in sixty-eight nominations from twenty-eight different
agencies. Each nomination was individually assessed and consideration given to
ensure a level of representation from across the State sector.
