Standards New Zealand

Topic : Improving Access to Standards with New Technology

Goals

  • Networked State Services
  • Co-ordinated State Agencies
  • Accessible State Services
  • Trusted State Services

Summary

This case study will:

  • Outline how New Zealand organisations’ experience of Standards New Zealand (SNZ) has improved through subscribing to the new online service. (Accessible State Services)
  • Demonstrate SNZ’s online service and the accessibility/features the new technology provides to New Zealand organisations. (Networked State Services)
  • Show how SNZ works with other State Sector agencies and Regulators to develop standards for community benefit. (Co-ordinated State Agencies)

Standards have traditionally been available in hard copy or single user PDF format. Today any number of employees in an organisation can access New Zealand and joint Australia/ New Zealand Standards online from the SNZ website by simply logging in from any PC. The online service now provides employees with information quickly and efficiently, plus the Standards are now being automatically updated on-line free of charge, giving subscribers 24-hour access to the latest version.

Standards provide significant benefits to businesses, consumers and the wider community – they are also an increasingly important mechanism for State Sector agencies and Regulators to realise public good outcomes
