In May 2006, Angela Coke was appointed as Assistant Deputy Minister,
Modernization Division in the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.
A modern public service organization needs the knowledge, skills and tools to
transform and continuously improve itself, and to deliver government priorities
and value for citizens. The Modernization Division is responsible for
increasing capacity across the Ontario Public Service to create, implement and
sustain transformational change. It does this by providing management
frameworks, methodologies, tools, learning and consulting services. The
division also manages corporate programs and transformation projects that
advance OPS modernization. The division is focussing on communicating the
modern OPS agenda; providing support to key transformation projects; building
project management capacity and skills across the OPS; promoting and supporting
organizational excellence and quality service best practices; managing the OPS
ideas program and innovation fund, employee engagement surveying, and employee
recognition policy and guidelines.
In 2005, Angela led the OPS Youth and Young Professionals Strategy development
project for the Centre for Leadership and Human Resource Management.
Between 1999-2005, she held a number of senior management positions at the
Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care including: Lead Internal
Transformation Project; Acting Executive Director, Corporate Services and
Organizational Development Division; Director, Corporate Management Branch;
Director, Business Improvement Office, and Manager, Business Transformation
Projects.
Prior to that she held a number of senior management positions in the
Communications Services Branch, Management Board Secretariat, and at the
Premier’s Correspondence Unit, Cabinet Office.
Before joining the Ontario Public Service, she worked for the Jamaican Consulate
General in Toronto.
Angela has a BA in English from York University, Toronto, Ontario.
