The conference theme for 2009 is: “Transforming Service Delivery : Focus on the Frontline”

DevCon 2009 will focus on the Government's key priority of improved front line delivery of services to New Zealanders. The conference keynote addresses and case study presentations will deliver new ideas, examples of proven methods and results, and information and contacts that will enable attendees to work individually in their agencies and collectively across the State Services to improve services for New Zealanders.

The programme will include a number of keynote presentations that highlight aspects of this theme. These presentations include:

• An Opening Keynote address by John Allen, CEO of NZ Post

• An Afternoon Keynote address by New Zealand State Services chief executives Peter Hughes, Lesley McTurk and Murray Sherwin

• A Closing Keynote address by Professor Peter Shergold, Head of the Centre for Social Impact at the University of New South Wales.

• A Closing address by State Services Commissioner Iain Rennie.

The conference Chair is Ray Smith.

In addition, we will present case studies of agency initiatives and programmes that showcase how some agencies have successfuly delivered services that are value for money and meet the needs of New Zealanders.
