High Potentials
Information for nominating High Potentials
In March, Iain Rennie will invite chief executives to nominate people in their
organisations not yet operating at a senior level but assessed by virtue of
their performance, contribution and personal qualities as having significant
leadership potential and the ability to progress further into senior management
roles.
There is no designated form or prescribed format for these nominations. However,
each submission should include:
-
the nominee's current position
-
the nominee’s scope of responsibility
-
comments on the nominee’s performance and personal qualities that clearly
demonstrate they have significant leadership potential as per the CLC model
below.
For your information, in reviewing nominations we will refer to the Corporate
Leadership Council (CLC) model which considers that a “High Potential” employee
is someone with ability, engagement, and aspirations to rise to and succeed in
more senior, critical positions.
This means we will be looking at your nominations for indications of high levels
of:
-
Ability – examples of how the nominee demonstrates a combination of
Innate Characteristics (mental and emotional intelligence & agility) and
Learned Skills (technical/functional and interpersonal skills) to successfully
carry out day-to-day work.
-
Engagement – examples of how the employee demonstrates he/she values,
enjoys and believes in their organisation, how they work with colleagues and
their willingness to contribute individually or in teams.
-
Aspirations – examples of the extent to which an employee demonstrates
interest in taking on responsibilities and leadership roles within in an
organisation, and/or seeks opportunities to influence or facilitate learning
and change within a team or an organisation.
